Andrew Gladiuk scored his third goal of the night at 12:17 of the third period to lift the Nanaimo Clippers to a 4-3 over Quesnel. The goal was the only power play marker on the night for the boatmen. Quesnel closed the gap to within one with a short handed tally by Taylor Holst at 15:41 from Smutek, but thats as close as Quesnel could get. Colton Cyr scored the other third period marker for Nanaimo that had given them a 3-2 lead at 6:43. Quesnel had tied the game at 2 as Trever Hertz found the back of the net on the power play at 5:03 from Raibl and Smutek.
Gladiuk opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period at 9:01 before Quesnel tied it a 1 at 1:33 of the second as Justin Hogan scored on a 2 on 1, using Hertz as a decoy with assists to Holst and Stanyer. Gladiuk scored the only other goal of the second period for a 2-1 lead at 16:43.
Nanaimo outshot Quesnel 50-39 over all. Quesnel went 1-4 on the power play while Nanaimo was 1-6. Quesnel will meet the Victoria Grizzlies tomorrow night before hitting the road for one game in Williams Lake before the Island road trip.
