Quesnel started the third period with a comfortable 5-3 lead, but the Warriors came storming back to win the game just before the end of regulation. Quinn Gould beat Quesnel to a loose puck deep in the Mills end, and rifled the puck over the shoulder of Luke Siemens and that completed the comeback for a 6-5 win. The Warriors got a gift call from the ref, as Tyler French was assessed a 2 minute minor with just under 2 minutes to go leading 5-4 for interference. Alex Grieve found a loose puck in the crease and shovelled it over the line for the equalizer at 19:02. Cam Reid scored his second of the game to get things started at 5:02.
The win over shadowed a great effort by Quesnel in the first half of the game, but they weren't able to keep the momentum, as the Warriors started to chip away. Darick Ste-Marie scored the only goal of the first period on the power play, jamming in a rebound from in close. Westside tied it on a wrist shot from the right point by Spencer Humphries. Quesnel scored again on the power play as Justin Hogan was sent into the clear by Trever Hertz and he gave Quesnel the 2-1 lead. Alex Grieve on the doorstep tied the game at 2 just under 30 seconds later.
Quesnel continued their strong play as they scored 3 more times in a 6 minute span, including 2 more power play goals. Rylan Stanyers shot from the point found the back of the net, and then Skylar Smutek pounded one through the wickets to make it 4-2 at 12:45. Things looked pretty good when Trever Hertz had a wide open cage to make it 5-2 before Cam Reid popped one in before the end of the second. The Warriors kept the pressure on as they slowly took the momentum back in their favor following the 3 goal lead by Quesnel.
Quesnel had chances late in the third to salt it away, but Hertz lost control of the puck on a partial break away, and Taylor Holst was alone in the slot, and couldn't get it past Kevin Jebson. Westside outshot Quesnel over all 39-28. Quesnel will have to put this one behind them, and focus on Penticton for saturday night.
