Sean Bonar stopped 34 of 36 shots as the Penticton Vees won 3-2 Saturday in Quesnel. The Vees got a power play goal midway through the third that turned out to be the winner from Joey Holka. The Millionaires made it close, with the netminder pulled for the extra attacked, Trever Hertz notched his 30th of the season at 17:36, but that is as close as they could get.
Both goaltenders made good save after sparkling save as Siemens had the tougher saves, keeping Quesnel in it, and a chance to come back. The Vees opened the scoring on the power play as Joey Laleggia blasted one from the point that found the top part of the net. Quesnel tied the game in the middle of the second on a 5 on 3, as Darick Ste-Marie put in a rebound to tie it at one, with assists from Raibl and Verheyden at 12:24. Luke Caradi gave Penticton the one goal margin only a minute and a half later.
Quesnel outshot Penticon 36-32 but couldn't get the good quality chances against the tight defense of the Vees. Raible and Verheyden each had a 2 assist night for Quesnel as they get back on the ice and play the Merritt Centennials Sunday afternoon at 2pm in a game that will give the winner sole possession of 5th place in the Interior Division Standings.
